About Us

Every counsellor at Balance Nutrition Inc is a Registered Dietitian. Each dietitian has received a Bachelor’s degree specializing in foods and nutrition and completed a dietetic internship through a University or health authority.

Celeste Lavallee

Celeste is inspired by the contributions healthy eating and physical activity make toward personal wellbeing. She helps clients decode the complex world of nutrition into useful tips. Celeste strives to provide leading-edge advice based on current evidence.

Celeste received the International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sports Nutrition.  She is working toward becoming certified in measuring body composition through the International Society for the Advancement of Kinanthropometry (ISAK). She draws on her personal experience as a triathlete when counselling in sport nutrition. Celeste is an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying activities from canoeing and backcountry camping to golfing and mountain biking.


Diane Jackshaw, BSc, RD

Diane Jackshaw

Diane enjoys helping clients understand the complexities of nutrition. She uses a common sense approach to help clients weed through diet myths and fads. Diane works with clients to set goals that will benefit each individual. Diane has experience working with the media and providing interactive presentations on healthy eating and leading a balanced life.

Diane enjoys taking walks with her husband and her daughter. She is an avid golfer and also enjoys scrap-booking and reading.

Karen Taube

Karen is fascinated by the way food interacts with our bodies, and how important nutrition is to our health. Karen loves getting other people excited about healthy eating, and is excited to develop easy, straight-forward plans for you!

In her free time, Karen enjoys running in the river valley, and hopes to complete her first race this year. Karen has also recently learned the joys of cooking, and no longer is the only dietitian who doesn’t know her way around a kitchen!


Melissa King, BSc, RD

Melissa King

Melissa is intrigued by the role diet and activity play in maintaining good health.  She loves food and is always interested in discussing the latest eating trends and evidenced-based nutrition practices.  Melissa wants to motivate clients to enjoy healthy diets that will help them feel their best!

Melissa describes herself as sporty and is an individual who constantly tries new leisure pastimes and activities. To keep active, Melissa is a distance runner and plays women's ball hockey.  She is excited now that she has a new running buddy, her golden lab Ari.


Andrea Smith, BSc, RD

Andrea Smith

Andrea is passionate towards the role diet plays in enhancing ones personal wellbeing. She has a keen interest in achieving optimal athletic performance through specific nutrition programs. Andrea feels nutrition is a key part of an athletes sport science program and overall success. She is currently completing the International Olympic Committee Diploma in Sport Nutrition.

Andrea describes herself as an active and outgoing person who loves training for an array of different activities year round, whether it be at the track, in the gym or at the pool. She maintains her dietetic knowledge and heart health with a good book, a glass of red wine and a piece of dark chocolate.


Dova Sharp, BSc, RD

Dova Sharp

Dova recently relocated to the Vancouver area where she will be providing corporate wellness services and community presentations for the Balance Nutrition team.

Dova has a fun and practical approach to incorporating healthy eating into lifestyle changes. She believes that a positive outlook is the key to achieving your goals. Dova aims to help clients create awareness and motivation to set and achieve their goals for lifelong health and happiness.


Tracey Webb, BSc
Nutritionist and Administrator
Edmonton

Tracey Webb

Tracey is fascinated by the relationship between the properties of food and how they affect the way the body handles them. She enjoys using her knowledge of food and nutrition to come up with fun and inventive ways to teach healthy eating to others, particularly children. Tracey loves creating and designing new resource tools that can be used to educate the public about nutrition and why it is important.

In her free time, Tracey is involved in fundraising for Team Diabetes and will be travelling to Costa Rica next May to hike to the summit of a volcano. She stays active by playing women’s league basketball in the winter months and going for walks in the wonderful summer heat. Another interest of Tracey's is finding new recipes to make and sharing them with her friends and family.
